Hook, Line and Rapture
The truth about God divinely revealed...

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
Ok normally I like his stuff, but this time he's just grabbing at straws. This video definitely backs up the theory that he likes the sound of his own voice.
WTF Pat?!
WTF Pat?!

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
When was it a theory? Pat most definitely enjoys himself (and not just in the shower).
However, what's wrong with that? Who doesn't like to hear themselves be witty, and know that thousands of people enjoy listening to it? I don't see this as being a major flaw. I see it as a requirement for motivating oneself to get up onto the soapbox.
As for Pat sounding redundant - I mostly agree. I LOVE hearing religion get bashed, but Pat's shtick is wearing thin for me too. Guess I've become bored of him.
Hmmm
Now, if only he got meaner...

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
I think the point of Christianity's reverence towards the morbid gives the video solid ground, also I think Pat's condescending tone is entirely appropriate given his typical subject matter. The point time and time again is the elite status to which nonsensical topics are given, a soapbox born of frustration via rational thought is deserved I think. Unlike televangelists, Mr Condell doesn't demand respect, he commands it.

Pats rants are to me like a breath of fresh air. I'm so freeking sick of christians and their like. Go Pat! I'm still looking for that Condell for president t-shirt. Wouldn't that be sweet.

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
It is absolutely apparent that individuals who attack Christianity are typically biased. The Muslim religion is the largest religion in the world. The most violent religion, the most oppressive religion, and the single most cause of fear in non Muslim countries. But people like this man, who has the freedom of speech, attacks a religious ideology that promotes brotherly love, joy, peace, and treating each other with respect. But I point out again, he is biased. He finds one major figure and takes that figure to town because he is a human being and makes mistakes. Congratulations for pointing out that Pat Roberson (whom I don't consider to be very "religious") is a human being. Please take your atheist points of view and stop attacking only one "God". Please attack all of them if you are going to try to make people feel bad for at least trying to believe in something so that WHEN they die, they attempt for something in the after life either Heaven or Hell. Congratulations for completely representing the human beings lacking intelligence.

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
You obviously didn't watch Condell's rants on Islam. He is not singling out Christianity at all. And truthfully, Christianity is far more a violent religion than Islam. Or do you not read your history books? The Spanish Inquisition? The Crusades? Did you know that Hitler was a god-fearing man and felt he had divine inspiration?
May I suggest that you get off your high horse and pay attention to reality.
Oh, and have a nice day!

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
Unless you're privy to historical details that I've never heard of, I don't think that Hitler was a man of faith. I know the Catholics of Germany embraced him, but did he embrace them? My understanding of Hitler is that the only god in his life was...well... himself.
Nevertheless, you are absolutely correct that Christianity is historically the most violent. Wonder if it has anything to do with the faith being more focused on conversion than the others.

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
There is evidence of Hitler being a Christian, at least in name. His views were a complete distortion of the views held by any popular sect of Christianity.
"I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so." -Adolf Hitler, to General Gerhard Engel.
While I'm not entirely sure that Christianity is the "most violent" popular religion out there, you don't have to look further than the Bible to hear about God ordering the slaughter of people who do not seem to deserve being slaughtered.

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
I'm gonna go with Jainism as the most violent, because ultimate salvation is attained through self-starvation. A religion promoting arduous and agonizing suicide is a little too morbid for me. Christianity does come in a close second, though.

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
I agree with you, but I believe Hitler, though raised a Christian, was an atheist. I'm not sure of that, but I think it's true, probably because he didn't like believing in someone more powerful than him.

Re: Hook, Line and Rapture
I wonder, does having a god-complex fit anywhere in the theistic frameworks? Leave a good book or two behind, and bam! 50-1000 years later you've got a loyal following. Heck, all those lovely times we've historically got one man standing at the peak of the pile... I'm getting much too far ahead of myself. 8)
