Wow, what a douche...

Yea, don't vote, that'll really show 'em. No you jackass, if you're one of those "bright American individuals" then get your ass up there and do something. If you're not, at least vote for the better candidate in your own eyes, someone's getting elected whether or not you vote, so get out there and vote for the candidate you support. The truth is for all the whining and bitching George Carlin does, he actually doesn't say anything useful. Great, let's all follow his example and be a bunch of useless condescending pricks! That'll really make the world a better place.

Honestly, choosing to be inactive is just as bad as the public who votes for a candidate if the end result is the same.

And guess what? I'm going to be an asshole right now and say that 9/11 is as much the cause of terrorists as it is a plane full of George Carlinesque pussies that refused to do anything while a crazy man with a box cutter hijacked a plane. Sure you can say that it wasn't their fault because they didn't hijack the plane, but the point is they could have done something, and obviously didn't.

I don't think you understand what he means by "Garbage in, garbage out."

He means that American citizens are selfish and ignorant, and thus, it is impossible to elect someone who is not selfish and ignorant. How are you supposed to "go out and do something" about the entire population? Emigrate?

George Carlin is a COMEDIAN, you dummy. He is not to be taken literally. If that were his intention, he'd be proposing that everyone become mass murderers. What he says is designed to illicit laughter - NOT real philosophy and life practices. This should be painfully clear to even a child.

this is the problem with Carlin and Bill Maher they seam to hate everything in the country and think it's gone to hell. they should either stand up with a positive solution to the daunting problems this country faces or shut the hell up. Better yet if neither of these options fit they can find a new home making it better for the rest of us. Lead, follow, or get out the way!

Isn't that the core of what these two dingbats fail to realize. That everyone is expected to be a free thinking individual. Capable of deciding what is a good or bad idea, and able to digest a variety of different opinions presented by others.

Many, many people love George Carlin's negative wit because sometime it just feels good to say FUCK IT ALL! Helps with finding perspective. Let's us see the insanity of what it would mean if we truly didn't care. That it couldn't possibly work that way; no matter how good it feels.

I hate all preachers but I sure as shit don't blame them because idiots do EXACTLY as they say. No, I laugh at the preacher and scorn the idiots.

Yet, after reading my post a second time, I noticed something that I failed to mention: FREE WILL

(please allow me to indulge...)

Yes, free will. It's either a gift from God(s) or a marvelous discovery of man. Who knows for sure. All we really know is that free will is the single most important part of being alive. A person could have shit and, yet, be able to bear it so long as he/she retains his/her own free will. This is understood.

So, what would you do if someone challenged your right to free will? You'd probably be offended if the jackass said you have no will of your own; that you are completely helpless to the will of the man on his soapbox, right? You'd probably even feel quite justified in telling that jackass where he can stick it, yes?

Good. I'm glad it is clear why I showed nothing but contempt for those two mindless douche-bags above.

Since when is it good rhetoric to forget proper punctuation and insult people? Maybe if you explained how to enjoy Carlin's comedy without all the spittle and condescension you'd accomplish something besides inflate your ego a little and make that person's opinion even stronger, thereby making the world's collective opinions just a little more heterogeneous, when we should be working towards homogeneity. but fuck it, right? but wait, don't fuck it, right? What was Carlin saying again? That's exactly why I still cannot enjoy Bob Dylan, the Beatles, punk rock, and Miles Davis. It's just so easy to excoriate someone when you could actually convince them. This isn't a presidential debate, you don't have to prove anything to anyone, and you actually have a shot at changing someone's opinion. It's just a thought.

I watch the party leaders and the candidates and they are all the same. BS after BS after BS. The only thing that shocks me is that the American public can't find people that are better then Bush and Chenney. I mean come on! Your last election was like voting for dumb and dumber. So, I would stick with Carlin. What I would like to see on ballots is "None of the above" If a high enough percentage votes is shown as None of the above then you throw the losers out and you start fresh never allowing the jokers back in the ring.

Very true, one equivalent option to the 'none of the above' approach is to spoil your ballot paper, this isn't 'wasting your vote', as the fundamental point of voting is the Say of the People....NOT having to choose the best of a bad lot, which is what it has so obviously become (all major bodies of influence in western society are becoming corporate owned/financed). Spoiling is how the masses can try and incite a referendum thereby installing a change in policy and law to match a change in times & climate.THIS, I think was Carlin's point.
