Henry Rollins on Evolution and I.D.
A delicious rant about school curricula. Science. Not science fiction.

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution and I.D.
This rant is completely ignorant. Science is doing the same thing with evolution as it is doing with the big bag theory. It finds some nonbiased factual evidence that points to a theory. Then they search for the holes that their theory encompasses, and often times say things happened a certain way only because its the way it had to have happened in order for their theory to be true. Completely similar to dark matter with the big bang theory and evolution is doing the same thing. Ben Stein did a good job describing the flaws of evolution. I admire the scientific process of continuing to evolve its ideas, but they stray away from their basic principals in these instances.

Correction. Your post is completely ignorant. Its also poorly written. The only

thing I could understand from it was that you think Ben Stein knows what he is talking about. Ben Stein should stick to playing characters, not pretending to know anything about scientific theory.

The TOE is the best explanation of how life on this planet came to be as it is now. Period. Intelligent design is not a valid scientific theory. Rollins is dead on.

I'm not terribly surprised that you chose to comment on this. You're amazingly consistent like that. I'm also not surprised that you avoid the issue once again. Please cease your continued reference to Ben Stein. He's a very bright man but he's an actor. Irrelevant.

Intelligent Design cannot be proven or disproven because there is no basis for testing. Evolution was a hypothesis that stood the experimental testing and became an accepted theory in the scientific community. There's nothing wrong with belief, ID or creationism. Just stop calling it SCIENCE because it's religion. Not science. Religion. Do you get it yet?

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution and I.D.
You cannot deny evolution. It occurs everyday at a bacterial level. How can you explain the changing of prokaryotic DNA so that it codes for a different protein to inhibit and avoid the human immune system. Evolution is real and happens every day, talk to your pharmacist or doctor on how antibiotics become ineffective if they are overprescribed. The bacteria evolve to avoid the antibiotic mechanism of action and the bacteria can thrive and replicate.

If evolution occurs at a bacterial level and bacteria is a cell, and all life is comprised of cells, why isn't it possible that humans and animals alike can undergo evolution. Hence the theory.

I went to school in Kansas, where the teaching of evolution in public schools is outlawed, but I went to a Catholic school and guess what? They taught evolution! So ironically if you live in Kansas send your kid to a private school to get a well rounded education.

But I agree that all of these religion/evolution posts are getting a bit obnoxious. To me it looks like it's a group of people trying to think that they are better than another because they have some scientific backing to their religious (or lack thereof) beliefs.

And Rollins is God.

Amen.

I don't know who this guy is, but I had to stop watching 45 seconds into the clip. Too much gesticulating.

And while I didn't watch the full clip, I'm fairly certain that Ferris Bueller's Day Off is not brought up. Why is Ben Stein being discussed? He's definitely not an authority on the subject.

Henry Rollins is a punk rocker from the 80's. He fronted the bands Black Flag and The Rollins Band. He's a badass and a very intelligent and well-spoken guy. These days he's an author and public speaker who's does spoken word tours around the country.

Ben Stein, to his credit, is also an intelligent guy. Before he was an actor or gameshow host, he was a speech writer for Nixon. Recently, he's appeared in the documentary Expelled. More details here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/438551/new_ben_stein_documentary_expelled.html
