Re: Coal
There actually is a big coal firm that ran ads like this a while back. I think they were meant more for investors, but they also tried to emphasize how many people coal employes. They also mentioned that coal is used for 50% of the nation's power, implying that coal will be around a while, like it or not, and maybe also that the lights might not come on if it weren't for coal.
On a side note, coal does fight global warming in its own way. Sulfur emissions from poorly regulated power plants, like the ones in China, are causing "global dimming," which reduces temperatures and limits the effects of global warming, giving detractors fuel. Of course, the sulfur emissions also rase cancer rates and create smog, so you don't want them around, either.
Given my choice, I'd end the use of coal, build nuclear power plants as a band-aid solution and focus on improving wind and solar infrastructure.

Re: Coal
Gah!
Global dimming does not "fight" global warming. It hides it. You're making it sound like a good thing. Global dimming is a lot easier to fix, but doing so will reveal the true effect of global warming.
I strongly agree that nuclear power plants need to be relied upon until wind and solar power technologies are in the majority.

Re: Coal
I especially like at the end, when the narrator says "Cheap. Abundant. Clean." but the screen just has the words "Cheap. Abundant. Cheap." on it.
Hope that was a joke, not just a mistake. :P
