Eric Prydz: Call on Me
This video for Eric Prydz's song, "Call on Me", is a spoof of the aerobic lesson scene in the 1985 film Perfect, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and John Travolta.
The instructor is Deanne Berry, from Austrailia.
The vocal loop is from Steve Winwood's 1986 hit, "Velerie".

Mr. Prydz, don't call us, we'll call you. This looks like something Playboy refused to put on one of their cheesy videos.

I refuse to comment on this low-brow, juvenille pandering post until I watch it at least 3 more times.

Re: Eric Prydz: Call on Me
Look closely, all those "women", with the exception of the main chick are actually men....No joke...The Benny Benassi "Satisfaction" video (with real women I might add) is far superior. This is also a remix/cover of an 80's tune called "Valerie".

Re: Eric Prydz: Call on Me
do you have any proof behind your "they are all men" comment?
Sure the african-american chick looks a tad butch, but there is NO way the 2nd blonde chick is a guy....

Re: Eric Prydz: Call on Me
The Eric Prydz video is porn, yet there's no nudity beyond PG-13 in it. On the other hand, there's serious gratuitous nudity in David LaChapelle's "Mac Mix and Match and Heatherette", yet that is not porn. Discuss.

Re: Eric Prydz: Call on Me
The Eric Prydz video is shit, yet it's on Milk and Cookies. The LaChapelle video is also shit, and it's also on Milk and Cookies. The difference? If I turned on MTV for about half an hour, I'd see the Eric Prydz video for at least 3 times. Plus 6 commercials for the brand new "must-need" EricPrydz-Ringtone. I thought M&C was here to show the treasures of the net you can't find anywhere else. Was I wrong? Discuss.

They are "shit" in your opinion, and you're probably not alone (or straight for that mattar), but hey that's what the comment section is for!

Re: Eric Prydz: Call on Me
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer...
I don't think it's a matter of being straight or not. If want to jerk off I can buy myself some Porn dvd on amazon, no problem.
It's just the sad development of music industry.
Instead of concentrating and being excellent in their field (supporting and discovering new and interesting MUSICIANS), they try to sell trashy music with pornographic videos.
But why is this shit on M&C???
Is there nothing funnier on the net right now???

Yes this sucks
this is what I hate about remixing and sampling. It's a Steve Winwood, song, dang it (released in '86, btw, not 80), and I remember, cause I went out and bought the album on vinyl. It's a good record for what it is. This guy is riding Winwoods coattails, I guess cause he's a Puff Daddy wanna be and is too talentless to come up with his own tunes.
As for the model, she wants to be Olivia Newton John really badly and ys she's pretty, but so what?

Re: Yes this sucks
You may hate it, but Steve Winwood liked it so much that he went to the studio and re-recorded his vocal tracks SPECIFICALLY for this remix.
Maybe you just don't like remixes or dance music in general?

Re: Yes this sucks
I don't mind dance music. But I hate whole-sale rip-off sampling.
Yes I know Winwood re-recorded the vox trax ("SPECIFICALLY") for this song, and why wouldn't he, as he probably got a healthy chunk of change for it and got his name out in the mainstream, for awhile, anyway. Just like Sting did for Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You," one of his many ripped off pieces of garbage.
I have a real problem calling "Call on Me" *Eric Prydz's* song.
I don't have a problem with sampling if it's done to supplement an already established track, but I do have a problem with it when it's a wholesale ripoff, such as this song.
However, I know I'm way in the minority on this one.

Re: Yes this sucks
ok, right. not a sample cause he re-sang the trax. Steve Winwood's a whore. And yes, I'm old. The kind of person who has Steve Winwood on vinyl. btw, is there an edit button on here so I don't have to double-post?

Re: Yes this sucks
Jaxon,
Actually, there are now two errors in the blurb:
1) The song's title is misspelled -- it's "Valerie", not "Velerie".
2) The song was first released on Winwood's "Talking Back To The Night" album in August, 1982.
:-)

While we're on the topic, "Australia" is spelt " "Austrailia"... unless of course it was meant to be a combination of Austria and Australia which i smost likely the case! :D

Being a man, I would NOT be caught dead doing that kind of crap in my life. Even though the blonde is hot, that dance is for a definite sissy guy!
